Certificate of Origin (COO)
The Certificate of Origin is one of the most important export documents. It certifies where the goods were produced and can affect: – Customs Duties: Some countries offer preferential tariffs for goods from certain origins. – Trade Agreements: Proof of origin is required to benefit from free trade agreements. – Import Regulations: Some countries have restrictions on goods from certain origins.
Types of COO: – Non-Preferential COO: Standard certificate stating the country of origin. – Preferential COO: Used to claim preferential tariff rates under trade agreements (e.g., GCC COO, Arab League COO).
